EAA Spring Juried Show Opening Reception
We are excited to announce EAA’s Spring Juried Show with juror Clinton Deckert and Gantner Gallery Featured Artist, Rosemary Cotnoir! The opening reception is on May 24, the show will last until June 16.
ABOUT THE JUROR:
Clinton Deckert, a distinguished award-winning artist from Connecticut, actively exhibits his work and also contributes to the arts as curator and juror for art events across the region. Deckert's unique vision earned him a spot in the “NEW / NOW” exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art, where his oil painting, “Carnivalidity,” was fervently voted into the museum's permanent collection. His artworks extend into prestigious collections such as the University of Connecticut and the renowned Jack & Susan Warner Collection, previously hailed as the world's most significant private collection of American art. As past president of Hartford’s Artworks Gallery, Deckert's ongoing influence and contributions have been recognized in Ink Magazine, the New York Times, and Art New England, and his insights have been shared on WNPR. His acclaim includes exhibiting at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, the Société des Beaux Arts International Exhibition, and the Art Palm Beach International Art Fair. Recently, his artworks were featured at Gallery 66 and at the Art League of New Britain. Through his unwavering dedication, Deckert continues to champion and advocate for the visual arts throughout the Northeast.
ABOUT THE GANTNER GALLERY FEATURED ARTIST:
The Gantner Gallery Award is a once-in-a-lifetime award and is the Essex Art Association's highest tribute to an artist. It is given to one artist during each EAA show. It affords the recipient the opportunity to present a body of work in a dedicated space during a show at our gallery.
Rosemary Cotnoir shares "I am an abstract landscape painter. Informed and inspired by observations of nature, my work explores patterns from aerial views of landscapes, i.e. coastlines, forests, and rivers. I use symmetrical, asymmetrical, and organic forms that are derived from my environment. My work is influenced by indigenous peoples, Japanese woodblock prints, and the work of Gustav Klimt. I begin work by applying colors to a canvas. I select areas that I want to emphasize. Doing that I can determine what direction I want to take. It’s an exciting time and it pushes me forward to complete the work."
